The highlights of a beautiful evening at Old Lodge Nature Reserve in the Ashdown Forest were:
- a hobby
- family groups of stonechats
- reasonably good views of a singing Dartford warbler
- a vocal raven
- displaying siskins
- a singing woodlark and a tree pipit
- common redstart male and female seen
- a churring nightjar (seen in flight)
- a roding woodcock (joined by a second bird on the second pass overhead)
